Minot’s Housing Shortage Continues | Video

Amy Fox | 6/19/2012

Finding a place to buy or rent in Minot is becoming one big problem. Last summer`s flood combined with the growing population has left few housing options for those looking in Minot.

Real estate companies are trying to respond to the high housing demand, but have very few listings to offer buyers. There are currently 254 home listings in Minot. This includes: 149 new homes, 118 flood homes and 61 existing homes.

With a limited selection to pick from, many people are being forced to wait for the new developments in Minot.

As Watne Realtors Broker Blake Krabseth explained, "The only thing we can do is build infrastructure as a community and making sure we can service all of these new developments. There`s plenty of new developments. I think there`s over 600 lots that have went through the planning commission that can be built in the city of Minot in the next year if we can service all of them."

Watne Realtors said the average price for a three to four bedroom home in Minot is $270,900, which is up from several years ago.
