Boaters Reminded to Wear Life Jackets

| 7/3/2012

If you`re planning on going out on the water this holiday, the Corps of Engineers wants to remind you and everyone with you to wear a life jacket. The Corps says that while many states have laws requiring children to wear life jackets, many adults don`t. There are about 700 boating fatalities in the U.S. Every year.

"When I talk to adults about life jackets, they all say, `If I need it, I`ll grab it.` That`s like saying, `If I`m in a car accident, I`ll throw on my seatbelt,`" said Corps Park Ranger Scott Tichy.
